Description
Baraka Point is an exclusive private ocean front estate with a 9,500 sq. ft. villa set amidst two acres of tropical gardens on one of Virgin Gorda's most spectacular snorkelling beaches. The villa offers a great deal of privacy, direct beach access (as well as a golf cart to get to other beaches close by in addition to the one you have access to through the gardens) barefoot luxury, a private chef, spa treatments and unparalleled views of the Caribbean Sea. A stay at Baraka Point promises to be an unforgettable holiday experience.
The villa is comprised of a main pavilion incorporating living, dining and entertainment areas, including a wrap-around terrace, and a wooden sunset deck set in boulders at the water's edge. There are five separate air-conditioned bedroom suites each with a private deck or terrace; two of the suites have adjoining rooms for small children, and the master suite has its own plunge pool (7' square and 6' deep). All five en-suite bathrooms at Baraka Point are done in playful Caribbean coloured glass mosaic tiles and have large indoor showers; two also have outdoor showers, and there is a bathtub in the Mandarin Suite.
The villa layout lends itself well to hosting family and group holidays, weddings, and special celebrations of any kind. Rental rates are for exclusive use of the property regardless of the size of your party.
In addition to the existing direct beach access through the garden to Nail Bay Beach, a stunning stone pathway takes you off the private point straight into the sea. The stairway descends through the giant boulders that are Baraka Point’s hallmark, giving guests a dramatic entry point into the water as well as a beautifully tranquil area in which to lounge amongst the boulders and palm trees at the water’s edge. Children must be accompanied by an adult, but it's lots of fun!
Take the rugged Kawasaki Mule (golf cart) to Mountain Trunk Beach, which is normally a 6-7 minute walk from Baraka Point. The Beach Mule comes complete with chilly bins for drinks or guests can have Aaron and Kim come down with a picnic and/or refreshments at a pre-arranged time.
There are loads of kid’s games, DVDs, books, music, water toys, AND an informal kiddie’s activity program including Beach Olympics, Treasure Hunts, Sand Castle Competitions and more. This way parents can have a bit of a break! (Note: This is not a babysitting service-nannies are available if parents want free time-an activity typically lasts an hour and an adult from the group has to be involved to help with supervision.).
At night the mood lighting, big Bedouin cushions, and fire pit for evening marshmellow roasts Caribbean-style, provide a funky space to chill out. This area also has outdoor speakers and is superb for sunset cocktails or for a couple to have a romantic private seaside dinner for two.
Baraka Point also has a full list of amenities including a fitness room, wood-burning pizza oven, luxury bathroom products from Aromatherapy Associates of London, in-room entertainment systems (stereo/TV/DVD players), music, DVD and book libraries, well-equipped office with high speed/Wi-fi Internet Access (extra charges apply), games and toys, a crib, highchair, playpen and various baby accessories, and a grocery service if you prefer to self-cater.
Wellnes Pavilion
Full service wellness pavilion for the exclusive use of Baraka Point guests. The pavilion enjoys stunning ocean views and natural breezes and promises to make a Baraka Point experience that much more relaxing. The Spa & Relaxation Area has a stunning turquoise organza silk mosquito net big enough for massages for two and a collection of Moroccan Pottery for the “Mud Bowls to Go”. The full time spa therapist, Kim Takeuchi, has trained in the United States, Canada and Japan, and she has worked for several Rosewood Resorts including Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda, prior to joining Baraka Point. Treatments will use natural products such as aloe, mangoes, avocados and coconuts grown in Baraka Point's gardens, and all of the essential oils and facial products are from a London-based spa company called Aromatherapy Associates. Yoga and pilates classes as well as a healthy spa menu of food and beverages to complement the treatments guests receive.
In addition to a full-time spa therapist, there is a full-time sous chef to assist the head chef from New Zealand, Aaron Seddon. You'll experience full restaurant-style table service on the alfresco covered dining terrace with spectacular ocean views. It is 40 feet long by 15 feet wide, and also gives guests extra space for lounging by the pool during the day when they want to get out of the sun. Debbie, from New Zealand assists in the kitchen and is also Baraka Point’s concierge. She can plan beach BBQ's and other themed dinner evenings, and will be available to assist guests with planning activities, making dinner reservations and taking care of guests' requests no matter how big or small.
Continental breakfast, lunch & two-course dinner daily (entree & main course or main course & dessert), inclusive of afternoon tea or snack: $95* per person per day.
One housekeeper services the villa at all times.
Active Sight-Seeing Programs. These are tailor-made half day or full day excursions off property either accompanied by a Baraka Point staff member to lead the activity or unaccompanied. Activities are designed with guests' age, fitness and ideas of relaxation and adventure in mind. Activities can include a power boat or sailing day trip- island hopping, looking for dolphin, snorkelling and lunching at a scenic spot; a cycling tour of Anegada atoll with a lobster picnic prepared and served by our chef, Aaron; climbing the boulders ("bouldering") at the Baths and within the National Park on Virgin Gorda followed by a Baraka Beach BBQ; a treasure hunt for children (or adults) on a deserted island; an historic day trip to visit ruins on the main island of Tortola including an archaelogical dig site of an Arawak and Carib Indian battleground; hiking Gorda Peak trails followed by a mountain top picnic…and the list goes on! If accompanied by Baraka Point staff there is an extra charge to arrange for all of the details of the trip as well as to provide food and beverages if desired.
Baraka Point offers a ski boat for waterskiing and wake boarding off the beach. Skurfing, donuting and tubing are available as well as beach drops and local snorkeling outings. (all at an extra charge)

Villa Notes:

Baraka Point can accommodate a maximum of 10 adults & 4 children, or a total of 8 adults & 6 children plus up to 2 infants in cribs located in the parent’s suites. Supplemental baby equipment (crib, high chair, car seat, linens etc.) can be provided complimentary.
Special Note to Parents
Baraka Point kindly requests that children under the age of 16 do NOT occupy the two upper level suites or single storey suite. These suites were designed for adults only and are not considered suitable or safe for minors. Please note we are happy for infants and non-crawling babies to sleep with their parents in any of the suites. We provide a crib for this purpose; please let the manager know at the time of booking whether you would like the crib installed in your room. There is also a small plastic baby bath, a high chair, play pen and various baby-related accessories for families travelling with infants. For younger children we offer small tables with chairs at meal times if they are required. These can be set up at any of the dining areas on the property. There is also a specially priced meal plan for children, which includes three meals, snacks and beverages throughout the day at a cost of $60 per day per child. Should you wish to modify the meal plan to include fewer than three meals per day please ask about the Meal plan options.
Finally, while Baraka Point welcomes families with children of all ages, the photos contained in this website show the position and extent of the property. It is a very large property (9,500 square feet in two acres) located on a rocky point that is surrounded by water and has DIRECT ACCESS to the beach; there is no fence at Baraka Point therefore we kindly request that guests supervise their children at ALL times so as to avoid accidents. Thank you.
Regretfully, there is nowhere to moor a sailboat near Baraka Point or anywhere around Virgin Gorda as the Government does not allow boats to moor overnight unless they are on privately owned moorings, or moorings operated by companies like the Bitter End Yacht Club, Biras Creek or the sailing charter outfit, the Moorings. The closest you could moor a sailboat would be to rent a berth/slip in the yacht harbour and moor it there at nights and when you weren't using it. The Government doesn't allow people to just drop anchor so as to protect the coral.
Getting To Virgin Gorda
You can fly Air Sunshine (commercial) to VG from San Juan or St Thomas. You can charter a private plane from San Juan or St Thomas to VG as well.
There are two Ford Explorers that guests are welcome to rent from Baraka Point at competitive rates and without the inconvenience of having to fill up and return the vehicle to an agency!
For those of you who have been to Baraka Point, here's another reason to return....in 2009.
Baraka Point will have a movie theatre/games room with a full size American pool table offering even more entertainment on property. There will be a bar area and plenty of comfortable seating from which to watch the sun set or take in a movie with some gourmet Baraka Point popcorn. There will also be a new outdoor terrace where guests can throw their own house party, and a private lounge where they can enjoy quiet time away from their group. Construction to commence at the end of August 08 to be completed by Thanksgiving 08.
